How do the tours work?
FAQ
I'm Rafael, the only guide who conducts tours for this organization, so I don't have a schedule of available tours. Simply send me an email to caminandotoursdc@gmail.com or a WhatsApp message to +12028676428 with the tour you're interested in, the number of participants, the language you'd like the tour to be in, the dates you'll be in Washington, D.C., and any other questions you may have. The more information you provide, the better, so I can respond quickly and let you know what dates and times I'm available for your tour.
The tours last between 2 and 3 hours depending on the tour you choose to take.
Each tour has a meeting point in a specific location within the city. You can find a Google map I created on the website showing all the meeting points. However, when I send you the booking confirmation via WhatsApp or email, I will explain the meeting point for your chosen tour in detail.
Tours run rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. In case of adverse weather conditions (such as thunderstorms or extreme cold), we will contact you by email or WhatsApp to inform you of any cancellations or try to find a better time that works for both of us.
Most of our tours are wheelchair and stroller accessible; however, I recommend letting me know of any special needs in advance so I can provide you with the best tour option. I have worked with several people with mobility limitations and I adapt to their needs, but I do need to know well in advance.
The cost is $55 per adult. Youth between 10 and 16 pay $30. Children under 9 are free. We offer special rates for groups of 5 or more.
The price you see on the website is for a group tour with other people who want to take the same tour as you in the same language. We don't mix languages; only group tours are conducted in one language.
For tours with more than 5 people, the price is per tour, not per person as indicated on my website. The tour cost is $220 for 5-6 people, $250 for 7-9 people, and $350 for 10 or more people (this last price is considered a private tour).
We don't accept more than 15 people on group tours to maintain the quality of service. But most of the time there are 6 to 7 people on the group tour.
$250 for 2-4 people for the private tour.$320 for groups of 5 to 10 people for the private tour$350 for groups of 10-25 people for the private tour. There is an extra charge if I have to go to the hotel to pick them up and take them by transport to the meeting point.
There are five tours on my website, and there are other special tours for people who want to explore much more than just the basics of the city. However, the three must-see places are the National Mall, Arlington National Cemetery, and Capitol Hill. I believe these are the essential sights that everyone should see when visiting the capital of the United States.
There's a must-see tour that isn't on my website, one that definitely shows you Arlington Cemetery, Capitol Hill, and the National Mall in a single day. It's designed for visitors with limited time who want to make the most of it. You can ask me about this tour via email at caminandotoursdc@gmail.com or WhatsApp so I can send you the description.
Tours in multiple languages are possible, but only in private mode, as all participants have agreed to this arrangement. The cost of the tour will be private.
It's possible to tour with a car, but this can only be done privately, and the cost increases considerably due to the vehicle. This is something you should consider, given that the tour prices you see here are all for walking tours and don't include transportation. Honestly, Washington, D.C. is one of the most walkable cities in the United States, and I think you should take advantage of that because outside of it, it's all about cars. However, I understand that some people have limited mobility and need a car, so please contact us directly, and I'll give you an estimate for a tour with a car.
Payment can be made in cash, Zelle, Revolut, Venmo, or bank transfer. To keep costs affordable, we do not currently accept Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
Tipping is a deeply ingrained custom in the United States. Tips for an excellent tour are optional, but always greatly appreciated.
